Material of Construction
The coalescer frame is designed to last the lifetime of the separator unit. The coalescer frame is built of sturdy 2” x 2” 304 or 316 structural stainless steel. The Multi-Pack can accommodate any flat plate material. Coalescer materials that have been used include: polypropylene, PVC, CPVC, acrylic, aluminum, marine aluminum, 304/304L stainless steel, 316/316L stainless steel. On really tough wastewater applications, such as found in Produced Water treatment, where there are very high chlorides and the temperatures approach 200F, we utilize a proprietary composite coalescer plate that exceeds the various grades of stainless steel. Our composite plate are half the weight of our stainless steel plates and require lighter lifting gantries.
Other Designs: Most other designs utilize a light shop-fabricated 1” x 1” 304 stainless steel frame or no frame system at all. The standard coalescer plates are typically polypropylene, PVC, or painted carbon steel. Plastic coalescer plates are heat sealed to form the pack and are set in the coalescer frame. Carbon steel plate coalescers are typically stitch welded into the carbon steel coalescer frames and are not removable for cleaning.
